About
Find Your Golfing Crowd – and Enjoy the Game Even More
The Rabbits Section is all about bringing together golfers of similar ability, making it easy to meet fellow members, enjoy regular rounds, and build lasting friendships on and off the course.
If you have a Handicap Index of 15 or higher, you’ll fit right in.
We organise frequent social golf and friendly matches with other local clubs — competitive enough to keep things interesting, but always played in great spirit. And for those who enjoy something a little extra, we occasionally venture further afield for our popular “Away Day” events and our much-anticipated “On Tour” escapes. These trips are always a highlight of the year — great golf, great courses, and even better company.
The Rabbits Section is open to all men aged 18 and over with a Handicap Index of 15 or higher.
New to golf? Returning after a break? You’re especially welcome. We’ll happily help you obtain a starting handicap and get you comfortably back into the swing of things.
Joining couldn’t be simpler — just click the “Register” option on our web-based information Hub and you’re on your way.
More golf. More laughs. More people to share it with.
We’d love to welcome you.

Membership & Subscription Details
There is a simple annual Rabbits Section subscription of £10, which allows you to play regularly with the Rabbits and includes entry into our popular annual “Buck Rabbit Trophy.”
If you would prefer not to enter the Buck Rabbit Trophy, the annual fee is reduced to £7.
For those whose Handicap Index is currently below 15 but who would still like to be part of the camaraderie, you are very welcome to join as a Social Rabbit Subscriber.
As a Social Rabbit:
-
You can join our regular Roll-Ups
-
You’re welcome to play in friendly interclub matches (by agreement with host clubs)
-
You’ll enjoy the social side and group activities
Please note that Social Rabbit membership does exclude entry into certain Rabbits competitions.
The annual Social Rabbits subscription is just £3.00 (non-handicap qualifying).
Whichever option you choose, the goal is simple — more golf, more enjoyment, and more good company throughout the year.
Regular Gatherings – Just Turn Up and Play
Our popular Rabbits Roll-Up Days take place every Wednesday and Friday, starting at 12:00 pm (moving to 1:00 pm when the lighter evenings arrive or when the Club changes timings, please check BRS!!).
There’s no pressure, no fuss — just come along and join in the fun.
If you’re new to the Rabbits and would like to make sure you’re properly looked after, simply add your name to the Tee Times allocated to the Rabbits Roll-Up in BRS on the relevant day. That way we’ll know to expect you and can make sure you’re warmly welcomed.
Full details can always be found on the Events Page within our online Information Hub.
What to Expect
On the day, members decide the format — usually a relaxed and enjoyable team Stableford competition.
Entry is just £1, keeping things friendly and light-hearted.
And if you’re not quite sure whether it’s for you? Just reach out to any of the committee members listed below — we’ll happily have a chat and answer any questions.
More Than Just Golf
The Rabbits are a friendly, welcoming group, and it’s common for many of us to enjoy a drink in the bar afterwards. It’s all part of the experience — good golf, good company, and plenty of laughs.
Join us for a couple of sessions and you’ll quickly feel part of the Section.
We’d love to see you there.
Affiliations
The Rabbits are affiliated to the Yorkshire Rabbits Golf Association (YRGA), specifically the Harrogate Area Rabbits Golfer Association (HARGA), and the North East Rabbits Golf Association (NERGA).
2026 Matches & Competitions
In 2026 the Rabbits will play several other local clubs in a mixture of formats. We normally put out a team of 12 and play 4-ball-better-ball match play; If that’s not enough there is also the YRGA Fowler Trophy (foursomes knock-out), HARGA Spring and Autumn Festivals and the summer-long HARGA Cup.
More information on these events can be found in teesandgreens.co.uk and or the club diary.
Lastly, we have a mixed match where we are paired with the ladies from TNGC and a match with the TNGC EGGs.
“Competitive” Matches – As Competitive As You Want Them To Be
While the Rabbits pride themselves on being relaxed and sociable, we also offer plenty of opportunities for those who enjoy a little friendly competition.
The Hambleton Trophy
The Hambleton Trophy is contested annually between TNGC, Easingwold GC and Bedale GC.
It consists of three matches, with each club hosting one event, and teams made up of 10 players per club.
The final match of the current cycle will be hosted at Bedale GC in 2026.
The 2026 event will be generously sponsored by Nick Stafford and Hambleton Brewery — a support that is greatly appreciated by all involved.
It’s competitive, but always played in excellent spirit.
NERGA Matches
In recent years, TNGC has performed strongly in the NERGA series — an eight-match competition played at different clubs across the region, typically over weekends.
The format is individual Stableford, with seven scores from our eight-man team counting toward the result.
This competition is ideal for members who:
-
Work during the week
-
Can’t regularly attend Roll-Ups or midweek matches
-
Enjoy playing a variety of regional courses
Not feeling competitive but fancy playing one of the venues? You can still put your name forward as a guest. There are usually a few guest spaces available at each fixture.
The Premium Event – The Buck Rabbit Trophy
Our flagship competition is the “Buck Rabbit” Trophy, a knockout match-play event for individual Rabbits that runs through the spring and summer months.
It’s always keenly contested and a real highlight of the season — so keep an eye out for the 2026 Draw.
2026 Competitions
In 2026, we’ll also be running:
-
Four Rabbits Stableford Competitions
-
The Mike Johnson Memorial Trophy
-
The Warren Trophy
-
The Irving Trophy
(The latter two are organised by the Club — please check the Club Diary for dates.)
Whether you’re looking for occasional competition or a full season of fixtures, there’s something to suit every Rabbit.
Play as much — or as little — as you like.
That’s the beauty of it.
